Position Title:  Accountant (01)– Kampala, Uganda

About A-BRAIN

Alpha Biomedical Research and Innovation Network (A-BRAIN) is a Ugandan health-technology research and innovation company that supports development partners working with the Ministry of Health. A-BRAIN’s main areas of focus are capacity building, research, and health systems strengthening.

Who We Are Looking For

We seek a professional, motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to strengthen our financial records, support audit readiness, ensure complete documentation of all transactions, and assist in maintaining a compliant tax position under Ugandan tax laws. Experience in project-based and grant-related accounting is essential. A positive attitude and strong problem-solving skills will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Record and book all financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
  • Complete and organise source documentation for all transactions and close documentation gaps.
  • Undertake project accounting and cost tracking across multiple health projects.
  • Support tax compliance and accurate computation of taxable income in line with applicable laws.
  • Assist with internal and external audit preparation, responses to auditor queries, and the development and strengthening of financial controls and internal control systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Commerce
  • 3–5 years relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax laws & URA compliance
  • Multi-project financial management experience
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills.
  • High integrity and professional neutrality

    • Other Requirements:

  • CPA or ACCA (completed or at advanced stage)
  • Data Analysis acumen
  • Problem Solving skills
